Empowering Trainers through Art Therapy
Holy Land Trust recently led a comprehensive 10-hour online training program (Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience STAR) for trainers specialized in Art Therapy and breaking the cycles of violence. This initiative, conducted in partnership with Eastern Mennonite University and sponsored by Friends of Sabeel, featured esteemed trainers Ms. Donna Minter and Ms. Carolyn Yoder. Both are experts in healing through art, breaking the cycles of violence, and building resilience.
Seventy Palestinian trainers from various fields—including therapy, art, photography, music, theater, dance, handcrafts, and cultural centers—participated in the training sessions, which were held over Zoom across three sessions. Participants hailed from across the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza, and even included Palestinian trainers living and studying in Europe and the UK. Notably, three participants from Gaza faced significant challenges due to poor internet connectivity. Despite frequent interruptions, their commitment to attending and engaging in the training was unwavering.
The training provided participants with valuable resources and tools to enhance their future work within the arts. This initiative aligns with Holy Land Trust's ongoing efforts to expand our network of trainers for potential "Art Therapy" projects. We recognize the severe impact of the Israeli war on Gaza and the daily violence in the West Bank and Jerusalem, which have profoundly affected our children and youth. Addressing this growing trauma is crucial, and we are committed to equipping trainers with the skills necessary to support and heal our communities.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Donna Minter and Ms. Carolyn Yoder for their dedication and the wealth of knowledge they shared. Additionally, we express our gratitude to Friends of Sabeel for sponsoring the training, enabling us to continue our mission of transforming trauma into hope.
Together, we strive to create a brighter future for our communities through the healing power of art and resilience
Thank you for your continued support.

"This special reception will feature an array of spoken word performances, captivating visual art displays, and the enchanting sounds of Palestinian music. Reflect with fellow attendees and immerse yourself in a rich cultural experience. This special reception, hosted in Washington, D.C, aims to be a powerful celebration of the resilience and vibrancy of Palestinian culture amidst ongoing genocide. In the face of efforts to erase the identity and heritage of Palestine, this evening stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of its people. The event's name draws inspiration from the Palestinian Sunbird, a symbol of national pride and resistance. Despite an Israeli campaign to rename it, the Palestine Sunbird remains a powerful emblem of Palestinian identity. By recognizing and celebrating the Palestine Sunbird, the national bird of Palestine, we honor the unyielding spirit and presence of Palestine on the global stage."
